I personally think its a real pity we've gone to five RNG 'story realms' instead of the normal campaign found in prior titles. I don't mean this as a slight against the writing in AoW3 or the quality of the campaign in AoW3, but rather as praise for how it turned out in Planetfall.īased on the Dev Diaries, I expect that they have improved on the formula of Planetfall, and although it sounds like the story campaign is shorter in AoW4 than it was in Planetfall, I will reserve judgement as to whether it actually is that (and whether it is for better or worse) until I can make a determination from personal experience. And my characters in Planetfall felt no less like protagonists of a narrative than Sundren did in AoW3. The campaign was still a cohesive and engaging narrative, but it felt like it was tailored more to me personally rather than the protagonist being a premade character that I otherwise had no stake in, the protagonist was my character. They already did this to a somewhat lesser degree with Planetfall, and it turned out great in my personal opinion. If anything, the devs have gone through tremendous efforts to make the campaign story feel like it's "your story" as much as possible. Click to expand. This is a rather strange conclusion to come to.
